New Website Launched!

We are pleased to announce our new website has been launched!

In September 2023 volunteer Emma Conroy contacted Soma Kwa Furaha Initiative via our WorldPacker page and offered to create the new website for us. We stipulated for the site to be created using WordPress and for us to be able to keep the site up to date locally. Emma rose to the challenge and soon registered our new domain, www.somakwafuraha.org.

In November 2023 Emma came to visit us in Mwanza to get a feel for the organisation before starting work on the site. Emma visited our office and reviewed our organisational documentation to get all of the key information about our vision, values and programs. She also reviewed our WorldPacker site to get together the information needed for our Volunteer section. While in Mwanza Emma stayed with our Administration Manager, Clara, in her family home. Emma was the first guest hosted by Clara so they both got to learn a lot from each other during her stay.

Emma had this to say about her experience, “I had a wonderful time staying in Clara’s home with her family. I was provided with a comfortable private room and had access to everything I needed during the stay. Meals were provided for me and I got to try lots of local food. I was made to feel like part of the family and I have made a friend for life in Clara. We have stayed in touch and I hope to visit again in the future”.

While in staying with Clara Emma was able to visit local villages and markets as well as nightlife hotspots. Clara also arranged a trip to the Serengeti National Park for Emma, allowing her to fulfil one of her lifelong ambitions of going on safari in Africa.
